The goal of UDA is to promote individual and community participation in the development of rural communities by identifying and meeting felt community needs.
Ubium is a group of 34 villages that are part of Nsit-Ubium Local Government jurisdictional area or county in Akwa Ibom State, Nigeria. Ubium (population approx. 300,000), occupies the eastern flank of the Nsit-Ubium Local Government Area, and covers an area of approximately 121.471 sq. km. Its vast area and difficult terrain compel the indigenes to travel long distances for water and other basic necessities. Ubium is bordered by Oron, Eket, and Ekpe-Attai Local Government areas, as well as Nsit. The percentage of the population living below poverty level is above the national average. While social infrastructure is limited, the majority of the population have limited or no access to basic services and clean source of drinking water.
The goal of UDA is to promote individual and community participation in the development of rural communities by identifying and meeting felt community needs. Among other objectives, UDA seeks to achieve the foregoing goal through relationship and collaboration with individuals and corporate bodies that can provide financial and technical support for UDA’s development programs.
